The ancient wisdom of Greece, the Far East and Near East has a lot to offer modern people. The old way of thinking was much more concerned with issues of spirituality, character, connection and happiness than our current culture, and the social structures were more supportive then of the pursuit of character and personal excellence than we now experience.
In the ancient wisdom of western culture, the focus was individualized, as the ethics of the day related to achieving one's personal best, leading to artistic, architectural and political achievement we still admire today.
In the eastern cultures, the focus was on transcendence, and leading to the development of the great systems of inner work, such as meditation and yoga. And the ancient wisdom of the Near East gave us insight into the Logos and relationship of humanity to the cosmos.
All of these traditional ways of knowing can help us to navigate the post-modern consensus reality to learn who we are and what is real.
The ancient peoples of the world were astute observers of the human condition and made many important connections that modern people often miss. The links below offer the opportunity to glean a bit of wisdom from the old masters that might just help you to navigate your life with more ease and grace.
